Closer Pt. 1

So the question might be, why in the world are you playing Neyo and this is a Christian blog. The answer is simple this blog like I stated in the purpose is unconventional, non traditional. This song has a great lyric to it, "Come Closer" and that is what God is saying to all of us, He wants us to be captured in His presence so much so that everyday we hunger for more of Him to know Him even more. When you draw nigh unto Him God can draw nigh unto you and reveal so much to you, that there wont be any crap in your life according to James 4:8. Neyo said that, "her presence puts him in a spell that he keeps longing for her." That is how God is, one time in His presence and you will be back for more, you will be longing for Him. Come closer to him, abide in Him and let his words abide in you. It is abiding in Him where you will find safety, rest, healing, prosperity, liberty, joy and happiness.

The Purpose of this Blog

Our desire for this Blog is to INSPIRE our generation to share Christ by Living Life Out-Loud. Join us as we take a journey through unusual methods to understand how we can reach our generation effectively and relatively. If you aren't a Christian this is still a blog for you because it will cause you to see that the God I serve isn't uptight but relative and urban and wants His children to have fun. You will want to join the family as well.

A few ground rules, I will be using different forms of communication on this blog i.e. music videos, songs, pictures and traditional writing). Not all media will be Christian some will be of secular nature but we will always point things back to Christ. Sometimes you can find principles in secular music if you just sit back and listen and stop judging. We will be creating parallels since that is what is mainstream to show what a relationship with Christ is like.

Also we will have other contributing writers discussing politics, fashion, make up, hair and other things. I gotta stay in my lane and bring in others cause I don't know anything about fashion and make up or hair. Me given make up tips "How dreadful." LOL. So stay tuned, get plugged in and have fun as we begin Livin out Loud-Jamaica.

Livin' out Loud

Have you ever been to a concert where you had to strain to hear the artist? I don't think so, that is because that artist spends thousands of dollars to ensure the best sound equipment is used. Why, so that you can hear what is being said. I remember I went to a Legendary Roots concert and the sound was off the hook. Black Thought (the lead rapper) was rapping and for some reason the tone of his voice kept getting lower and lower to a whisper, the band followed suit. His voice was so soft that we couldn't hear what he was saying, but soon after his tone got louder and louder and the crowd went bananas.

As a Christian you might have been sold out for Jesus or on Fire for God and for some reason you began to take a backseat in church, stopped reaching out to your friends, slowed up on your prayer life and stopped reading your bible. Your Christian walk got real quiet all of a sudden to a little whisper. What happen, where did you go, where have you been, I haven't seen you in a minute. Those are some of the statements that you get from people you knew at church and christian functions. If this sounds like you or someone you know here is a story, a testimony and I hope it helps to motivate you that change is possible.

A young kid at a very young age knew he was suppose to be a preacher of some sort. Loved God with all his heart and stayed in church and boldly told people about Christ. Until one day he went off to college and that love for God began to flicker, boldly preaching the gospel came to a whisper. This young man began to hang out in clubs, drinking Smirnoff Ice, smoking weed several times a day, a different girl everyday of the week. But his love for God was still there, he was livin' a silent in the closet christian life. One day that young man was drunk on a speaker at a club almost passed, woke up the next morning and couldn't figure out how he got in his bed. At that moment he realized that he was trippin and needed to turn back to God the one who had kept him alive for so many years. That is exactly what he did turned his life around turned the volume of his Life Up for many to hear.

That young man is me, that story is me. I can boldly say that I haven't had a drink in years (well except Shirley Temples, don't judge me!) or smoked weed in years. I am now a licensed minister with a ministry committed to reaching my generation for Christ through unconventional, non-traditional methods. I decided to live my life out loud and to know the God I serve is real, relevant and reachable. Many people see me and are amazed that I am a minister because I don't dress like one or talk like one. That is because my life is the open book to show that you don't have to be a certain way or act a certain way to be a minister or even a Christian. Your life speaks loud and clear what you believe and who your serve. Don't be afraid to live right, be bold and tell others about Christ and what He has done for you.
